Together We Are Stronger as Advocates.
It is my honor and privilege, as the founder and president of De Chambers Private Lawyers’ Club—the first of its kind to invite you to connect with other purpose-driven lawyers in this visionary community.
I am a practicing solicitor of the Senior Courts of England and Wales and affiliated with Londonium Solicitors, a reputable law firm in London, as a senior consultant.
I am deeply grateful for the support of all the lawyers who have had faith in this great idea and vision.
This year, my theme is that we are stronger as advocates when we work together, especially when we try something new; we will see a difference.
Consider this straightforward but impactful comparison that can be found in the common togetherness.
A single penny might not seem like much on its own. It is tiny, frequently undervalued, and easily missed. But as we collect a lot of pennies, we start to realise how valuable they are. Every penny adds to the total and, when combined with others, has the potential to have a significant effect.
Similarly, De Chambers Private Lawyers’ Club is comprised of a wide range of members, each with unique skills and strengths. Many are in the middle of their legal careers, while some are senior lawyers and others are just beginning or even student lawyers. By supporting each other’s professional development, advancing intellectual diversity in the legal profession, and fighting for social justice, we can have significant influence when we work together. Remember that we have more things in common
than differences. Similar to the penny, our acts multiply and gain greater value and power when we work together.
Being the first of its kind, De Chambers Private Lawyers’ Club needs the support of lots of purpose-driven lawyers to reach its full potential.
Since I left Uganda in 1996 at the age of 27, my journey has been full of challenges. I had no hope when I first arrived in the UK, but I was able to fulfill my dream through hard effort and the availability of well-thought-out systems. De Chambers Private Lawyers’ Club offers members a chance to network and connect with both practicing and non-practicing lawyers, members of the judiciary, community business leaders, and aspiring law students.
By supporting the worthy cause of equality advocacy, the events that De Chambers Private Lawyers’
Club hosts are enjoyable and meaningful. For instance, our quarterly and annual dinners, where nationally renowned keynote speakers inspire attendees. Our signature Dine Arounds, which are exclusive social dinners with the legal pillars of the De Chambers community. Or our mentorship programs for law students as a way to give back.
I do not doubt that you will discover an event hosted by De Chambers Private Lawyers’ Club that satisfies your passions and interests as a member. Through our lawyers’ associations as members, we shall lift each other up and put forth endless effort to improve our society.
